Urgent Need - Medical Assistant
Job Title: Medical Assistant
Location: Leading Medical Center
Pay Rate: $28 per hour
Job Summary:
The Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting with various healthcare services, obtaining and processing specimens, performing routine laboratory studies, and supporting administrative functions such as coordinating patient flow and scheduling. The ideal candidate will have oncology outpatient experience.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Perform routine clinical procedures including:
- Sterile dressings
- Electrocardiograms (E.K.G.)
- Spirometries
- Bladder catheterizations
- Removal of sutures and clamps
- Application of topical medications
- Assist physicians with surgical procedures, including gastrostomy tube placement/removal and spinal taps.
- Use sterile techniques appropriately.
- Obtain laboratory specimens and conduct routine lab studies, reporting findings to the physician or nurse.
- Perform allergy patch testing, including placement, removal, and recording of results.
- Coordinate patient flow and ensure the availability of necessary equipment, supplies, test results, and medical records.
- Assist with scheduling patient appointments, tests, procedures, and patient registration and discharge activities.
- Provide patients and families with prepared instructions regarding diagnostic testing and laboratory studies.
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain medical equipment.
- Document patient data, actions, and relevant information accurately.
- Take and record vital signs, height, weight, and blood pressure; identify and report abnormal findings.
- Perform first aid and CPR when necessary.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Strong oral communication skills.
- Proficiency with computer systems and electronic health records (EHR).
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Credentialed Medical Assistant (Certified/Registered).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
