Job Summary:
The Cath Lab Technologist plays a crucial role in the cardiac catheterization laboratory, assisting physicians in diagnosing and treating cardiovascular conditions. This position involves preparing patients for procedures, operating specialized equipment, and monitoring patients during and after procedures.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Prepare patients for catheterization procedures by explaining the process, obtaining patient history, and addressing any concerns
- Assist physicians during procedures by operating imaging equipment and providing necessary instruments
- Monitor patients' vital signs throughout procedures and respond to any changes or emergencies
- Ensure all equipment is properly maintained and calibrated
- Document and maintain accurate patient records
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to provide high-quality patient care
Qualifications and Skills:
- Associate's degree or higher in cardiovascular technology or a related field
- Certification as a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work effectively under pressure
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
