Job Title: Ophthalmology Technician (Ophthalmic Technician)
Job Summary:
As an Ophthalmology Technician, you will work closely with ophthalmologists to provide patient care by performing various clinical and administrative tasks. Your primary responsibilities will include assisting with eye exams, conducting diagnostic tests, maintaining patient records, and ensuring the overall efficiency of the ophthalmology practice.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Assist ophthalmologists with patient examinations and procedures.
2. Perform visual acuity and eye function tests.
3. Administer eye drops and medications as directed.
4. Operate and maintain ophthalmic equipment.
5. Conduct diagnostic tests, such as visual field testing and tonometry.
6. Educate patients on eye care and treatment plans.
7. Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
8. Assist with scheduling appointments and managing patient flow.
9. Sterilize and maintain surgical instruments.
10. Follow all safety protocols and HIPAA regulations.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) or Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) preferred.
3. 1-2 years of experience in a clinical setting, preferably in ophthalmology.
4. Proficiency in using ophthalmic equipment and EMR systems.
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
6. Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
7. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
8. Flexibility to work evenings or weekends as needed.
