Job Summary:
The Special Procedures Technician is responsible for assisting medical personnel in performing invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in various departments such as cardiology, radiology, and interventional radiology. They must operate specialized equipment, provide patient support, and ensure proper documentation of procedures.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Prepare equipment and supplies for procedures
- Assist in positioning patients and providing emotional support
- Monitor patients during procedures and report any abnormalities to medical staff
- Operate imaging equipment such as fluoroscopy machines
- Assist in administering contrast agents and medications
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation
- Adhere to safety protocols and infection control measures
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure patient care
Qualifications and Skills:
- Associate's degree in Radiologic Technology or related field
- ARRT certification in Radiography
- Previous experience in a hospital or clinical setting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- CPR certification
- Ability to lift and move patients as needed
