Job Summary: The Director of Manufacturing oversees the company’s entire production process, including equipment purchases, maintenance, and facility layout. This role is responsible for monitoring workflow, identifying and resolving bottlenecks, and ensuring operational efficiency. The Director leads department managers across machine shop, assembly, inventory control, shipping, and continuous improvement, ensuring alignment with company policies, objectives, and industry best practices.
Responsibilities:
1. Manufacturing Operations:
o Direct and coordinate manufacturing activities to achieve company goals.
o Analyze cost, operations, and forecasts to identify opportunities for efficiency.
o Develop and implement business plans, including labor, production costs, and resource allocation.
o Establish and maintain production, quality, and cost-control standards.
o Oversee facility, equipment, and material needs for optimal production.
o Ensure production goals, cost targets, and quality standards are met.
o Stay informed on industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
2. Leadership & Team Management:
o Provide leadership to department managers across all manufacturing functions.
o Define responsibilities and expectations for staff, ensuring accountability.
o Hire, train, and develop employees while fostering a high-performance culture.
o Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and implement growth plans.
o Address and resolve employee concerns while maintaining a positive workplace.
3. Collaboration:
o Partner with the CI Manager to establish a company-wide culture of continuous improvement.
o Support Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma initiatives, while delegating daily execution to the CI Manager.
o Ensure department managers collaborate with the CI manager to identify and address operational inefficiencies.
o Aligning manufacturing strategy with process improvement initiatives to drive sustainable growth.
o Work cross-functionally with engineering, supply chain, and quality teams to align on production goals.
o Oversee major production projects and expansion efforts.
4. Safety:
o Ensure adherence to company policies, industry regulations, and safety standards.
o Promote a safe work environment, ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
o Oversee compliance audits and corrective actions as needed.
