The SMT Operator is responsible for setting up and operating surface mount technology (SMT) equipment, including pick and place machines, stencil machines, and reflow ovens, used in the printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) process. The SMT Operator will also inspect products for quality, troubleshoot issues, and maintain equipment.
Responsibilities:
- SMT Machine Operation:
- Set up and operate SMT machines based on work order specifications for PCB assembly.
- Load and unload machine-specific component feeders and make necessary adjustments for various board layouts.
- Perform program maintenance and adjustments on equipment to meet production needs.
- Inspect completed products for quality, accuracy, and compliance with required specifications.
- Troubleshoot equipment failures and quality issues to ensure timely and accurate production.
- Maintenance:
- Maintain and troubleshoot SMT Pick and Place equipment and solder paste printing machines.
- Hand place unique components that cannot be placed by automated equipment.
- Perform routine maintenance on SMT equipment to ensure proper operation and minimize downtime.
- Troubleshooting:
- Adhere to IPC-610 Class 3 standards and guidelines for quality in PCBA manufacturing.
- Quickly troubleshoot and resolve process and quality issues to maintain on-time delivery.
- Collaborate with the Process Engineer for further diagnosis and resolution of technical issues.
- Safety:
- Follow all safety procedures and operate equipment in a safe manner.
- Maintain ESD controls and ensure compliance with inventory control processes.
- Support the timely movement of completed kits through the production line.
