Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Sr. Scientist to join our Analytical Services team at Thermo Fisher Scientific. The successful candidate will have a strong background in laboratory sciences and experience working in a regulated lab environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform complex sample preparation and analytical testing of pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical compounds for release and stability.
- Independently perform method validations and method transfers, designing and executing experiments with minimal supervision.
- Document experimental data appropriately and accurately in an electronic laboratory notebook; assist in writing technical reports.
- Work with multiple functional groups to meet business needs, planning and organizing work with periodic supervision.
- Maintain laboratory equipment, optimize laboratory operations, and lead troubleshooting of equipment and experimental problems.
- Ensure QA findings are addressed appropriately, mentoring and training junior staff as needed.
- Communicate project status, data, and technical issues to project leads and respond to leaders' needs and questions.
- Analyze data for technical, quality, and compliance to protocols, methods, SOPs, client criteria, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Understand and adhere to corporate standards regarding code of conduct, safety, and cGMP compliance.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in lab sciences such as Chemistry, Biochemistry, Material Science, Immunology, Biology, Molecular Biology, or similar.
- Sr. Scientist: Previous experience providing knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 4 years').
- Masters degree and previous experience providing knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 2 years').
- OR PhD.

- Able to communicate, receive, and understand information and ideas with diverse groups of people in a comprehensible and reasonable manner.
- Able to work upright and stationary and/or standing for typical working hours.
- Able to lift and move objects up to 25 pounds.
- Able to work in non-traditional work environments.
- Able to use and learn standard office equipment and technology with proficiency.

Compensation and Benefits:
- The salary range estimated for this position based in Illinois is $80,000.00–$95,000.00.
- This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
