PPD, the clinical research business of Thermo Fisher Scientific, has a new opening for an Associate Counsel Contracts on our Legal Contracts Team.

The role is office-based in Raleigh, NC, Pittsburgh, PA or Hillsboro OR.

The Associate Counsel Contracts position provides legal advice and support in drafting, review and negotiation of business agreements and contracts for assigned departments within PPD. It serves as the primary contact to ensure PPD's best interests are protected and that senior management has the legal information necessary to make informed decisions and grant approvals for business risks.

• With oversight, provides legal advice and represents the company in legal matters.
• Prepares, negotiates and finalizes Company Agreements.
• Makes recommendations to Management with regard to risks and strategies.
• Provides training to other departments on contract requirements
• Understands and adheres to Standard Operating Procedures and other regulations for all aspects of project implementation, execution and closeout.
• Assists in other legal matters, as required.
• Assists with customer disputes as requested.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree
• Advanced degree in law (juris doctorate or equivalent educational model in other jurisdictions).
• Previous legal experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 2 years)
• In some cases an equivalency, consisting of appropriate education, training, and/or directly related experience will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Capable of drafting and negotiating routine contract provisions autonomously and complex contract provisions, with oversight
• Must be able to identify risk and evaluate fact patterns to advise on the application of the law (may require some oversight)
• Excellent English communication skills, written and oral
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with proven ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently and effectively
• Must be flexible and able to reprioritize workload to meet changing project needs
• Strong Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills
• Excellent analytical and decision based thinking

The salary range estimated for this position is $85,000-105,000 USD. This position will also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. Actual compensation will be confirmed in writing at the time of offer.
