How will you make an impact?
Thermo Fisher is looking for a hard-working Electronic Technician to join our unique Cameras & Imagers team. C&I designs and produces specialized scientific and radiant hardened video cameras consisting of solid-state imaging systems applied in life science applications. Working with the Operations Manager, this role will perform a variety of assembly and testing activities to manufacture camera systems. Beyond new production assemblies, the Electronic Technician will also troubleshoot customer field return and non-conforming supply including circuit boards
What will you do?
- Work effectively in a team environment including interactions with manufacturing and engineering colleagues
- Interpret drawings and schematics to assemble or troubleshoot product
- Use electronic Project Life Cycle Management application to access drawing, BOM’s, and document manufacturing defects
- Operate basic hand tools, power tools, and torque tools
- Perform inspections of completed assembly tasks including mechanical assembly and soldering per IPC 610 standards
- Test and troubleshoot analog and digital assemblies using digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, frequency counters, computer-aided and other test equipment and test software
- Component level troubleshooting of circuit card assemblies
- Manually remove and replace circuit board components using solder techniques that comply with IPC 610 standards
- Solve and repair sophisticated test equipment and set ups
- Maintain accurate test data and other records
- Maintain a clean and safe 5S work environment
How will you get here?
- High School Diploma or GED
- 5 years proven experience in a relevant manufacturing environment (preferably involving electronics)
Knowledge & Skills:
- Proficient with test equipment, including oscilloscopes
- Surface mount and through-hole solder experience
- Familiar with IPC 610 standards for solder and inspection
- Ability to perform intricate manual assembly operations
- Proven AC/DC theory background.
- Experience with Microsoft applications, including Excel
- Knowledge of the causes of electrostatic discharge (ESD) damage and methods for the prevention of ESD damage

- Self-starter and able to complete daily work tasks with minimal direction
