What are the responsibilities and job description for the Strategic Buyer position at THERMTROL CORPORATION?
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Strategic Buyer to manage the sourcing, ordering, and logistics of materials and tooling for new programs. This role is crucial for ensuring materials are sourced efficiently, delivered on time, and in the right quantity to support the success of our projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Supplier Engagement: Manage relationships with current and new suppliers
- Ordering & Procurement: Place and manage orders that align with required timelines to ensure timely delivery of materials and/or tooling for new programs
- Shipping Coordination: Effective communication with our internal sourcing team to provide updated delivery of materials
- Proactive Problem-Solving: Monitor potential shortages, delays, or issues, and proactively find alternative sources or expedite solutions
- Escalation Management: Escalate significant delays or shortages to the Procurement Manager to prevent impact on new program schedules
- Supplier Communication: Regularly communicate with suppliers to track delivery status and provide updates to the team
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, program management, and sales to ensure material needs are met and project timelines are satisfied
- Vendor Support: Assist the quoting team when North American vendors are unresponsive
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proven communication skills for effective collaboration with suppliers and internal teams
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Experience with an ERP system for order entry and procurement management is highly recommended
- Attention to detail approach to help build and maintain strong supplier relationships
- Exceptional organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively
- Previous experience within a supply chain role required
- Associate’s degree required, bachelor’s degree highly recommended
