Thew Associates LS, PLLC is a land and hydrographic surveying and mapping firm headquartered in Canton, New York with branch offices in Marcy (Utica), Saranac Lake, and Syracuse, New York.
We are seeking highly motivated technical staff with a background in marine survey and/or land surveying. The position will primarily assist in performing hydrographic surveying and mapping (multi- and single beam acoustic, ADCP, magnetometer, sub-bottom profiling, and sediment sampling) services throughout New England.
The following education, experience, and skills are preferred:
- Preferred A.A.S. in Surveying Technology, B.S. in Surveying Engineering, or industry related experience
- Preferred two years' experience performing hydrographic surveys or related marine experience.
- Preferred experience with single- and multi-beam sonar surveys.
- Experience with vessel operation to include trailering, mobilizing, launching, and recovery.
- Working knowledge of Trimble GNSS devices, Trimble robotic total stations, and Trimble data collectors.
- Experience performing static and RTK GPS/GNSS surveys.
- Ability to travel and stay out-of-town on a frequent basis.
- Valid driver's license.
- Willingness to embrace and learn new technologies.
In addition to the skills listed above, experience with the following is highly desirable:
- Proficient with Civil 3D (Release 2019 or newer)
- Single- and/or multi-beam acoustic sonar with Hypack hydrographic surveying software
- Processing of bathymetric (single/multi beam), sub-bottom profile, side-scan sonar, magnetometry data
Candidates must possess strong math and computer skills and be proficient in the use of AutoCAD, Microsoft Word and Excel; and be able to work independently.
Salary will be commensurate with experience.
Employer will provide OSHA training as required.
