JOB SUMMARY
The laboratory specimen processor is responsible for a variety of tasks, which include specimen receiving and sorting, lab support, and test data entry. This position requires a considerable amount of flexibility, attention to detail, and accuracy.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Pick up and delivery specimens from the floors to the lab
Attention to detail, and ability to multi-task
Needs to be able to handle working in a fast pace, repetitive environment
Ensure specimens and requisitions are correctly labeled
Should be able to work independently and in a team
Flexible schedule to accommodate business needs
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Knowledge of phlebotomy procedures and equipment, accessioning, verifying specimens and specimen requirements
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Knowledge of HIPAA privacy rules.
Skill in communicating in a professional manner, both verbally and in writing.
Skill in planning, organizing, and time management.
Skill in using a computer and a variety of software, including Electronic Health Records (EHR) software, Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.
Skill in managing multiple priorities and problem solving.
Ability to work effectively under pressure to meet established goals and objectives.
Ability to maintain high levels of professional and personal integrity.
Ability to convey professional demeanor and sound judgment in dealing with patients care, protection of patient privacy, and confidentiality.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
HS Diploma, GED, or 1 years of similar work experience
Must possess excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and PC experience
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT
This role operates in a healthcare setting. This position requires frequent standing, walking, and computer work. This position allows employee to moderately vary physical position or activity for comfort. Must be able to:
? Stand 80% or longer of workday.

? Sit 10% of workday.
Requires ability to lift and maneuver up to 35 pounds occasionally.
Requires employee to: bend, squat, kneel, and reach above shoulder level occasionally and twist occasionally.

Requires all sensory skills (speech, vision, smell, touch, and hearing) corrected to near normal range.
