Vice President of Operations
Summary: Responsible for direction, planning and coordination of all areas of manufacturing for the company in accordance with the policies, goals and objectives established by the Management.
Duties and Responsibilities: Include but are not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
- The scope of area responsibilities includes Manufacturing Support/Management of Production Scheduling, Shipping, Digital Print Center, Pre-Media, Pressroom, Finishing, Mailing Services, Wide-Format, Fulfillment and Kit-Packing.
- Budget forecasting and strategic planning as a member of Senior Leadership Team
- Participates in formulating and administering company policy and developing long-range goals and objectives. This includes the direction, focus and visualization of activities in responsible departments to further overall progressive goals and objectives and monitors their progress.
- Ensure compliance with Think Patented’s policies, practices, and standards.
- Directs the company’s manufacturing activities to ensure maximum effectiveness is obtained for the production of quality products within specified time and budgetary guidelines.
- Accountable to ensure products meet or exceed customer quality standards and required delivery schedules are met utilizing lean production and continual improvement techniques. Maintain and analyze/manage CAR program
- Initiates and coordinates major projects including participating in the study of new machinery and production methods and the selection of new equipment, plant layout changes and major repairs. Work with finance to create an ROI analysis for major purchases.
- Benchmark cost-centers and drive OEE on all major equipment
- Drive a culture of continuous process improvements and lean manufacturing.
- Supports efforts by Sales/Marketing Department to obtain new accounts or problem resolution.
- Keeps current on information and technology affecting functional areas to increase innovation, automation, machine learning and AI utilization.
- Hire, train, develop and evaluate staff. Achieve exceptional levels of team member engagement through open communication, two-way feedback at all levels, and an environment where issues can be openly raised and positively received at all levels of leadership
- Coach and mentor leaders and team members, design, and delegate appropriate workloads, and build development plans to ensure career success by participating in succession planning activities via well-functioning Apprenticeship programs.
- Take corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with company policy. Ensure compliance with current federal, state, and local regulations in consultation with Human Resources Department.
- Maintain housekeeping, TP Way of Life standards throughout the premises to reflect the highest standards of professionalism
- Oversees the company’s efforts in operating as a safe place for our employees. Active participation on the Safety Committee. Follow all mandated safety protocols and dress codes. Think Patented is committed to the safety of its employees and requires strict adherence to all safety procedures, including but not limited to machine specific procedures, personal protective equipment, dress code, restricted areas, lock out / tag out procedures, walking and working surface standards, and fall protection systems.

- Expert written/verbal communication skills and the ability to present complex concepts in a concise and understandable way to a variety of audiences, including the highest level of the organization.
- Duties performed in this job may require the handling of Protected Health Information or other confidential material. Therefore, the employee is required to follow all policies and procedures outlined in the company’s HIPAA related documentation and are subject to the defined sanctions in the event that they should inappropriately use or disclose confidential material.
Position Requirements:
- BA/BS in industrial, mechanical or business administration or a 4-year technical degree in related discipline.
- 10 years of experience managing a process-oriented manufacturing operation.
- Printing experience is a plus but not a requirement.
- Five years of management or leadership experience across multiple functions and/or previous executive leadership experience
- Familiar with OEE productivity tools
- Versed in lean manufacturing/continuous improvement disciplines.
- Ability to lead and mentor staff to achieve significant results through collaboration.
- Ability to influence, negotiate and gain commitment at all organizational levels.
- Possess high professional ethics, good judgment, and ability to take decisive action.
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal leadership skills
