TAILS Academy Dog Training Assistant:
Do you LOVE dogs! Think Pawsitive Dog Training in Waukesha, Wisconsin is seeking an energetic, self-motivated and team-oriented dog training assistant who is looking to join Wisconsin’s largest indoor canine education, exercise and sports complex.
This special person has great communication skills, shares our unbridled passion and commitment to promote safe, FUN and rewarding daily activities for our dogs in our TAILS Academy Dog Training Program.
You must have a strong passion to teach dogs of all skill levels, with the patience to adjust to each dog's skill level with the focus on success and FUN! Your role will be working with dogs in our day training program and assisting with various scheduled activities:
- enrichment, play and retrieve sessions
- proper leash walking and basic manners sessions
- land treadmill sessions
- water activities
- mental stimulation games and puzzles
If you are have an understanding or a desire to learn about positive reward (food and toy) training methods for dogs through the use of operant and classical conditioning. Responsibilities and Duties
- Supervise and teach dogs during scheduled activities. Must be attentive and be able to monitor dog interactions.
- Learn and identify appropriate and inappropriate dog behaviors.
- Pick up and dispose of dog waste immediately and appropriately.
- Clean indoor areas, crates, food and water bowls, etc. according to Think Pawsitive procedures. All positions at Think Pawsitive involve cleaning. Feed and water dogs appropriately.
- Must be good with reading and writing detailed information, such as training agenda, client notes and client instructions.
- Communicate clearly and accurately with customers and staff members on the phone and in-person.
Qualifications and Skills
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Think Pawsitive Dog Training requires a genuine love for dogs and a dedication to dog education, exercise, safety and cleanliness.
- Previous job experience for this entry level position with dogs is not required, but it is helpful. Preference is given to those candidates with dog related experience working or handling dogs in a daycare or boarding facility, as a vet tech, vet assistant or dog trainer, is highly desired.
- Highly reliable, on-time, and flexible.
- Capable of very active and physical work. There is a lot of bending, stooping, lifting, reaching, and 70% of your time spent on your feet. Walking about 3-4 miles a day with the dogs.
- Safely lift or transport 40-50 lbs.
- Desire to work hard, outstanding communication and excellent teamwork skills with your co-workers.

Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
- Shift Hours 7:00am-2:00pm or 10:30am-6:30pm
- 2 weekend shifts each month
