Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled Histology Technician to join our team in Detroit, MI. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing tissue samples for microscopic examination by pathologists, ensuring high-quality specimen processing, and maintaining laboratory compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine histological procedures, including tissue embedding, microtomy, staining, and slide preparation.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, such as microtomes, tissue processors, and staining instruments.
- Ensure proper specimen handling, labeling, and documentation for accurate diagnosis.
- Follow laboratory protocols and adhere to quality control measures to maintain consistency and accuracy.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with regulatory guidelines (CLIA, CAP, and OSHA).
- Collaborate with pathologists and laboratory staff to support timely and efficient workflow.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Histotechnology, Biology, or a related field.
- ASCP certification as a Histotechnician (HT) or Histotechnologist (HTL) preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a clinical or hospital laboratory setting.
- Proficiency in histological techniques, including microtomy and staining procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently during night shifts.
