Thinking Minds Inc.’s client is seeking a talented Mechanical Design Engineer to join their dynamic team, focused on designing and fabricating custom machines and equipment for the production of innovative composite parts and assemblies. This role is perfect for a resourceful, hands-on professional with a passion for problem-solving and engineering creativity.
As a Mechanical Design Engineer , you will play a pivotal role in advancing the client's proprietary manufacturing capabilities. You’ll apply engineering expertise, creativity, and teamwork to translate functional requirements into efficient manufacturing systems. The role requires balancing innovation with proven solutions while meeting tight schedules.
Key Responsibilities
Develop mechanical and machine design concepts that meet customer and internal requirements.Collaborate with internal teams and management to exceed customer expectations.Perform system testing to ensure the reliability, robustness, and capability of machine designs.Coordinate with vendors and the internal machine shop for on-schedule part procurement.Drive continuous improvements in machines and processes.Create and maintain clear, accurate machine documentation, including requirements, plans, drawings, models, analyses, BOMs, operating instructions, and training materials.Apply a hands-on approach with various fabrication methods, materials, and mechanical equipment.Lead or guide team members when required to achieve project goals.Preferred Skills and Qualifications
Proficiency in SolidWorks or Catia for 3D modeling and solid modeling.Ability to perform detailed engineering analysis (manual, computer-based, and FEA).Hands-on fabrication expertise with tools, jigs, fixtures, and industrial equipment.Knowledge of electrical engineering principles and experience with PLC programming or embedded firmware.Previous experience in composite materials and tooling is a significant advantage.Exceptional ability to innovate and contribute to complex machine design challenges.The successful candidate will need to work effectively as part of a team, displaying initiative, sound judgment, and the ability to deliver results under tight deadlines.
