Principal Scientist, Formulation Development (Associate Director) – Boston, MA (On-Site 2-3 Days / Week)

This is an opportunity to apply your expertise to optimize protein-based therapies, shape formulation strategies, and collaborate with a highly skilled team in a growing biotech company. Reporting to the Vice President, Formulation and Drug Product Development, this role plays a key part in advancing protein formulation development, exploring co-formulation approaches, and evaluating novel drug delivery technologies.
How You’ll Make an Impact :
- Define and refine formulation strategies to ensure effective drug development.
- Work on high-concentration formulations, improving stability, injectability, and compatibility.
- Oversee key projects with CDMO partners, ensuring smooth development and manufacturing transitions.
- Explore co-formulation opportunities and develop innovative drug product presentations (vials, syringes, autoinjectors).
- Play a key role in preclinical to IND transition, supporting clinical study needs.
- Partner with analytical development teams to assess product stability and degradation pathways.
- Investigate sustained-release and novel delivery systems to enhance drug performance.
- Ensure phase-appropriate drug product development, from early research to commercialization.
- Apply risk-based thinking (QbD) to formulation and process design.
- Engage with external manufacturing and testing partners, overseeing quality outcomes.
- Contribute to regulatory submissions and cross-functional scientific discussions.
