The Opportunity
We’re searching for a Group Creative Director with a design-first approach and deep expertise in gaming to lead and shape the creative direction for a portfolio of gaming-focused clients. Based in Los Angeles, the GCD will oversee multiple creative teams, ensuring they consistently deliver exceptional work that resonates with gaming audiences. As a senior leader, you’ll push boundaries, foster innovation, and help expand Thinkingbox’s creative impact in the gaming space.
What You'll Be Doing
- Oversee Creative Vision: Lead the creative strategy and vision across multiple gaming accounts and projects, from ideation to execution, ensuring work meets the highest standards of creativity and design.
- Multi-Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of Creative Directors, Art Directors, Designers, Writers, and Strategists, fostering a culture of collaboration and creative excellence.
- Design Leadership: Ensure all creative output is design-forward and aligned with client goals, guiding teams to produce visually compelling and strategically sound work.
- Client Partnership: Act as a trusted creative partner to senior-level client stakeholders, advocating for innovative ideas and solutions while balancing business objectives.
- Cross-Platform Innovation: Lead creative development for campaigns spanning digital, social, experiential, and interactive media, with an emphasis on creating engaging content for gaming communities.
- Strategic Growth: Partner with the new business team to pitch and win new projects within the gaming sector, providing thought leadership and big-picture creative concepts.
- Trendspotting & Inspiration: Stay ahead of design and gaming industry trends, emerging platforms, and technologies to inform and inspire teams and clients.
What You Bring
- 10 years of experience in senior creative roles, including 5 years in a Creative Director or Group Creative Director capacity, with a focus on gaming or interactive experiences.
- Design Expertise: A proven background in design, art direction, or creative production, with a portfolio showcasing high-impact visual campaigns and digital experiences.
- Gaming Knowledge: Experience working with or for gaming companies, studios, or brands. A deep understanding of gaming culture, player behaviors, and platform-specific engagement.
- Creative Leadership: Demonstrated success in managing and mentoring large creative teams across multiple projects, ensuring cohesion and consistent delivery of best-in-class work.
- Strategic Thinker: Ability to balance creative vision with strategic business objectives and drive creative solutions that deliver results for both the client and the agency.
- Client Engagement: Excellent presentation and client management skills, with experience leading high-stakes pitches and presentations.
- Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Strong ability to collaborate with production, strategy, and tech teams to bring big ideas to life.
- Passion for Gaming: Genuine enthusiasm for gaming and creating experiences that excite and engage audiences.
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with emerging tech, including AR, VR, or interactive storytelling.
- Experience with esports, gaming influencers, and content creation for platforms like Twitch or YouTube Gaming.
- Understanding of game development tools like Unreal Engine or Unity.
