Looking for Dialysis RN in Salida, CO
Job Type: 16 weeks full time contract
Shift: Wednesday and Friday 8 am to 3 pm
Guaranteed Hours per week: 16
Overtime Starts After 40 Hours
ESSENTIAL DUTIES PER AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY:
- Dialysis RN performs daily dialysis care and supervision for in-center, acute, and peritoneal dialysis. Dialysis Nurse responsible for pre-assessment, ongoing assessment and post-assessment of the dialysis client and retails overall accountability and responsibility for patient's care when deciding to assign or delegate to other licensed or unlicensed personnel.
- Demonstrates advanced technical skills to set parameters and monitor readings with dialysis machinery.
- Accesses fistula or shunt with care to avoid clot formation.
- Ongoing patient education.
- Dialysis RN participates with monthly Quality meetings-(QAPI) and follows up timely with care plan updates to include use of correct medications, review of patient labs, helping patients with activities toward achieving transplant
- Acts as a competency validator and mentor for dialysis techs.
- Performs monthly patient education and ensures documentation of such.
- Assists with keeping the patient emergency kits and all unit supplies current.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Registered Nurse graduate of an accredited school of nursing, ADN, with BSN preferred.
- At least 12 months of experience in clinical nursing, and an additional 6 months of experience in providing nursing care to patients on maintenance dialysis.
- Current Colorado nursing license. Current CPR and ACLS certifications.
- Dialysis RN with 1 year of peritoneal and/or hemo-dialysis experience
- One weekend per month on call, one winter/one summer holiday coverage.
