Financial Leadership Role:
The Chief Financial Officer will oversee all aspects of financial planning and analysis for our organization.
This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, executive management, and external vendors to drive business growth and success.
You will be responsible for managing accounting and financial activities, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, risk management, compliance, and strategic financial planning processes.
Additionally, you will advise senior leadership on optimizing processes, improving finances, and supporting responsible corporate growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure seamless integration of financial disciplines, leading monthly close, budgeting & forecasting processes, internal financial controls, associated reporting, and analysis of actual expenses.
- Oversee operational and financial accounting and regulatory activities, including technical accounting, audit, tax, management, and investor reporting, payroll, procure-to-pay cycle, treasury operations, company registrations, equity, and insurance.
- Provide financial and operational leadership for budgeting & forecasting and strategic planning for R&D, clinical, and G&A organizations.
- Act as a strategic financial partner and point of contact for leadership and key stakeholders across the organization, including investment and business development opportunities.
- Deliver financial presentations to senior leadership, including annual budget summaries and quarterly financial reports.
- Proactively engage with internal stakeholders and functional leaders to manage budgets, challenge assumptions, estimate cost savings, and ensure consistency between departmental financial plans, corporate goals, and program/project timelines.
- Manage key internal processes to ensure accuracy and transparency across the finance organization.
- Build and manage models for problem-solving and business forecasting.
- Implement continuous enhancements in support of a quickly growing organization, including standardized reporting, process improvement, and benchmarking analysis.
- Perform ad-hoc analysis and assist with special projects as required.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business; master's level degrees (e.g., MBA) or professional distinctions (e.g., CPA, CFA) preferred.
- Minimum 10-15 years of experience in finance, ideally with direct experience in biotechnology or the life science industry and at least 4-6 years of experience in a leadership or managerial capacity.
- Experience with private and public financing, IPO experience preferred.
- Detail-oriented, solution-driven with excellent written and verbal communication analytical, and presentation skills.
- Strong business acumen; proven ability to effectively scrutinize and challenge assumptions and interpret strategy and priorities in financial terms.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Excel and PowerPoint) required; experience in QuickBooks, Bill.com preferred.
- Working knowledge of CARTA (especially as it relates to Equity Management).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; effective at communicating across all levels in the organization.
