The Manager of Laboratory and Cytometry Core Operations will report into the Head of Discovery Labs and is responsible for overseeing all laboratory operations, safety and regulatory compliance and implementation of business applications for the lab environment. Laboratory Operations (70%)
o Lead the daily laboratory operations to ensure efficient and cost-effective functioning aligned with the discovery laboratory vision.
o Develop, implement and communicate laboratory processes for the organization and drive general upkeep of laboratories by setting policies and procedures for use and maintenance of equipment, biospecimens, consumables, and business applications.
o Manage laboratory services and tasks, ensuring appropriate response to equipment issues as needed for continued operation.
o Manage, create, and execute onboarding and offboarding process of laboratory employees, vendors and/or contractors with respect to laboratory operations.
o Partner with scientific and executive leadership to establish strategic plans, lead space planning and strategic designing of the labs.
o Primary point of contact for scientists and leadership for space management and equipment ordering and placement within the labs.
Safety, Quality and Structure Improvement (10%)
o Function as Primary Safety Officer to lead internal safety programs (occupational health and safety management, environmental compliance, hazardous material management)
o Develop strategies to continually improve safety in the laboratory and influence safety policies and procedures,
o Develop, administer and monitor training programs to ensure laboratory safety and compliance standards are followed.
o Work collaboratively with lab scientists on troubleshooting and improving laboratory workflows with regards to safety and efficiency.
o Collaborate with IT support team to develop and implement data retrieval process from specialized instruments that ensures data security.
o Manage and implement usage and processes for laboratory systems such as laboratory notebooks, data storage and access and analysis software.
Flow Cytometry Core Management (20%)
- Lead the efforts for flow cytometry instrumentation and maintenance
- Serve as subject matter expert of flow cytometry techniques such as: primary and immortalized cell staining best practices, panel design, gating strategies, large flow data triaging and analysis.

- Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline, such as biology, chemistry, or medical technology.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Knowledge of laboratory management principles, specifically around managing specialized laboratory assets and implementing procedural methods for maintenance and operation.
- Extensive experience and knowledge of laboratory operations and a deep understanding of laboratory techniques and technologies, specifically with respect to the workflow of BSL2 and cell biology labs.
- Extensive knowledge of flow cytometry instrumentation, maintenance (BD Symphony, Sartorius iQue3) and techniques such as: panel design, gating strategies, large flow data triaging and analysis.
- Experience with the following business applications: FlowJo, FluoroFinder, Revvity Signals eLN, GraphPad PRISM, MS Office
- Experience in compliance and management of EH&S and Data integrity guidelines
- Strong organizational skills and a problem-solving mindset are required
- Proven communication and leadership in laboratory operations
