Job Summary :
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Optician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in optical dispensing, excellent customer service skills, and a passion for helping patients achieve optimal vision. The Optician will be responsible for assisting patients in selecting eyewear, fitting lenses, and providing education on eye care and eyewear maintenance.
Essential Job Duties :
- Patient Interaction : Greet patients warmly and provide personalized service to assist them in selecting the right frames, lenses, and contact lenses based on their prescription, lifestyle, and preferences.
- Eyewear Dispensing : Accurately measure and fit eyewear, including taking pupillary distance measurements, adjusting frames, and ensuring proper lens placement.
- Lens Selection : Advise patients on various lens options, including single vision, bifocal, progressive, and specialty lenses. Provide information on coatings, tints, and treatments to enhance vision and protect lenses.
- Eyewear Adjustments and Repairs : Perform adjustments and repairs on frames, such as tightening screws, replacing nose pads, and aligning frames for optimal fit and comfort.
- Prescription Interpretation : Accurately interpret and verify optical prescriptions provided by optometrists and ophthalmologists.
- Sales : Assist in selling frames, lenses, contact lenses, and other optical products. Provide cost estimates, explain insurance benefits, and manage transactions.
- Patient Education : Educate patients on proper eyewear care, including cleaning, storage, and maintenance tips. Offer guidance on contact lens care and insertion techniques.
- Inventory Management : Maintain an organized and well-stocked inventory of frames, lenses, and accessories. Order supplies as needed and ensure that displays are appealing and up to date.
- Administrative Duties : Manage patient records, process insurance claims, and schedule follow-up appointments. Ensure that all documentation is accurate and up to date.
- Be a positive role model for all health center staff.
- Other duties as assigned.
