Description

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the organization, ensuring the effective management of financial risks, opportunities, and planning. The CFO will play a key role in shaping the company’s financial strategy, managing financial performance, and leading financial planning, budgeting, and reporting. This role requires a strategic and visionary leader, with experience in financial management, regulatory compliance, and corporate governance. This position reports directly to the CEO and is a member of the organization’s senior leadership team.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management, Reporting & Oversight

  • Provide strategic financial insights and recommendations to the CEO, senior leadership team, and the Board to drive business decisions and financial goals.
  • Oversee all financial activities, including accounting, financial reporting, tax, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Manage the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports in accordance with accounting principles and industry standards.
  • Ensure timely preparation of financial audits, working closely with external auditors and ensuring adherence to audit schedules and requirements.
  • Ensure proper internal controls are in place and that the organization adheres to regulatory standards for financial reporting and corporate governance.
  • Monitor financial performance against the budget and provide timely, accurate financial analysis and reports to the CEO and Board of Directors.
  • Lead the management of corporate banking relationships and investments.
  • Manage the company’s risk management framework and insurance programs to safeguard the organization’s assets.
  • Collaborate with HR on Benefits, Employee Relations that involve law enforcement and other legal concerns.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead and develop team consisting of finance, risk management and facilities staff.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement in financial management processes and team performance.
  • EDUCATION And / or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in Business Administration or Accounting; minimum five years full-charge bookkeeping experience; minimum five years supervisory experience of accounting and statistical personnel; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous experience working within a non-profit organization, desirable.

  • Technology Proficiency : Strong proficiency in financial management software and advanced Excel skills.
  • Problem Solving : Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills to navigate complex financial challenges and provide innovative solutions.
  • Ability to respond appropriately to the cultural differences present among the agency’s service population.
