An infant teacher is responsible for creating a safe and nurturing environment for infants and toddlers, providing care and stimulating activities to support their physical, mental, and emotional development through age-appropriate programs and interactions, including feeding, diapering, and implementing a developmentally focused curriculum that encourages exploration and learning through play.
Key responsibilities of an infant teacher may include:
- Child supervision and safety: Continuously monitor infants to ensure their safety and well-being, implementing appropriate safety measures.
- Developmental activities: Plan and execute age-appropriate activities that promote sensory, motor, cognitive, and social-emotional development through play, music, and interaction.
- Basic care routines: Change diapers, feed infants, and assist with hygiene practices.
- Observation and documentation: Observe children's individual development, documenting progress and any concerns through detailed notes and reports.
- Parent communication: Maintain open communication with parents, sharing updates on their child's development and addressing any concerns.
- Curriculum implementation: Follow a developmentally appropriate curriculum that is aligned with early childhood education standards.
- Classroom environment: Create a positive and stimulating learning environment with age-appropriate materials and activities.

Required skills and qualifications:
- 18 years of age or older with a high school diploma or GED
