Area Director- Home and Community Based Services
FLSA Status: Full-Time, Salary, Exempt
FTE: 2.0 (We are hiring for a total of 2 Area Directors)
Hiring Range: $80,000- $85,000 Annually DOE

Position Overview
The Area Director provides strategic leadership, oversight, and support to multiple programs and services within an assigned region. This position is responsible for ensuring operational excellence, compliance with regulatory standards, quality service delivery, and strong team performance. The Area Director serves as a key liaison between program-level leadership and the Vice President, ensuring that regional operations align with organizational goals, values, and best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct supervision, coaching, and evaluation of Program Directors as assigned.
- Ensure consistent delivery of high-quality HCBS programs that meet service recipient needs and comply with all contractual, legal, and accreditation standards.
- Collaborate with the Vice President to develop, implement, and monitor strategic strategies and operational goals.
- Lead efforts for program development, innovation, and improvement.
- Monitor program budgets, expenditures, and financial reports to ensure fiscal accountability and sustainability.
- Develop strong partnerships with community organizations, funders, and government agencies to support service delivery and growth.
- Ensure compliance with all organizational policies, procedures, and professional standards.
- Support and drive initiatives focused on staff development, engagement, and retention.
- Analyze performance data and use outcomes to inform decision-making and strategy adjustment.
- Represent the organization at meetings, conferences, and community events as needed.
- Ability to travel regularly within assigned region
Required Qualifications
- Meet the requirements for Designated Manager according to 245D
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive leadership experience in health, social services or human services programs.
- Proven experience in managing multiple programs or service sites across a large geographical area.
- Extensive knowledge of relevant human service standards, regulations, and best practices.
- Strong budget management and financial acumen and extensive knowledge of DHS daily and unit-based service agreements including 6790s and exceptional rates
- Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Ability to think strategically, solve problems, and lead change effectively.

Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Social Work, Public Administration, Human Services, or a related field strongly preferred.
- Experience working with diverse and vulnerable populations.
- Advanced training or certification in health, human services, or social services management, leadership development, or compliance.
