Role Purpose
The Technology Manager is responsible for overseeing technology operations and managing strategic vendor relationships to ensure technology solutions align with business objectives.
Working closely with the CEO to develop and maintain a comprehensive technology plan that supports company growth, operational efficiency, and competitive positioning. Key responsibilities also include companywide software management, reporting on technology metrics, and tracking utilization.
Responsibilities
Vendor and Software Platform Management
- Act as the primary liaison between the company and the MSP, ensuring excellence in help desk, infrastructure, and cybersecurity services.
- Oversee relationships with all technology vendors, including software, hardware, and mobile device service providers.
- Manage companywide software platforms, including implementation, patches, upgrades, and user adoption.
- Track and optimize software usage, identifying underutilized resources and suggesting changes to improve ROI and reduce costs.
Strategic Planning
- Collaborate with the CEO to develop and maintain a comprehensive technology plan that aligns with the company's strategic goals.
- Contribute to the creation of technology roadmaps, assessing future needs and recommending technology solutions that drive business growth.
- Participate in quarterly strategy meetings with the CEO to review technology progress, address challenges, and set actionable goals.
Technology Strategy & Implementation
- Develop and execute technology strategies that align with business objectives and market opportunities.
- Research emerging technologies and recommend solutions that enhance productivity, reduce costs, or improve customer experience.
- Ensure all technology implementations are completed on schedule and meet project goals.
Reporting & Performance Metrics
Provide monthly reports on:
- Help desk response times and resolution rates.
- MSP performance against SLA targets.
- Software utilization metrics, tracking adoption rates and identifying underutilized platforms.
- System uptime and downtime incidents.
- IT budget tracking, including monthly spending and cost-saving initiatives.
Submit quarterly reports covering:
- Strategic project progress, milestone achievements, and any delays.
- High-level analysis of software and hardware usage, identifying trends and cost-saving opportunities.
- Security metrics, including cybersecurity incidents, data protection, and compliance status.
- Technology roadmap updates, highlighting completed, ongoing, and upcoming initiatives.
- Employee satisfaction and feedback related to IT support and tools.
- Oversee and complete 3rd party auditing.
IT Operations & Support Oversight
- Oversee MSP operations, including system maintenance, troubleshooting, and cybersecurity protocols.
- Establish and maintain policies for hardware and software usage across the company.
- Coordinate technology-related training and support to improve overall IT effectiveness.
Budgeting & Cost Control
- Develop, monitor, and manage the IT budget, focusing on cost-effective solutions.
- Work with vendors and the CEO to find budget optimizations and reduce overhead costs.
Project Management
- Lead and oversee technology projects, ensuring that projects are on time and within budget.
- Work closely with stakeholders to determine project scope, objectives, and resource needs.
Risk Management & Compliance
- Ensure all technology solutions comply with industry standards and internal policies.
- Monitor and mitigate cybersecurity risks in collaboration with the MSP and other vendors.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 5 years in IT management, ideally within construction or a similar industry.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Excellent ability to conceptualize long-term business goals and develop orderly processes to accomplish those goals.
- Excellent managerial skills.
- Thorough understanding of information technology and information technology systems.
