Role Summary
The Director, Business Development is a pivotal leader responsible for identifying, developing, and expanding strategic partnerships with pharmaceutical companies, biotech firms, and other healthcare stakeholders. With 10-15 years of experience in business development and a strong understanding of the pharmaceutical industry, this individual will play a critical role in the organization's continued success.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive business development strategies to achieve revenue targets and drive growth within the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors.
- Identify and pursue new opportunities with pharmaceutical companies, biotech firms, and healthcare organizations, including market access, patient support, and other specialized services.
- Participate in the preparation and delivery of compelling proposals, pitches, and presentations to prospective clients, ensuring alignment with client expectations and market trends.
- Oversee and collaborate with the inside sales team to ensure effective lead generation, prospecting, and qualification of opportunities, while driving alignment with business development strategies.
- Stay informed on industry trends, competitive landscape, and emerging opportunities within the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors to inform strategic initiatives.
- Partner with internal teams, including marketing, operations, and product development, to deliver tailored solutions and ensure seamless execution of projects.
- Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to business development activities, including lead generation, pipeline management, and client conversion rates.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Life Sciences, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- 10-15 years of experience in business development, sales, or related roles, with a proven track record of success in the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry.
- Strong network within the pharmaceutical sector, including experience working with pharmaceutical manufacturers, biotech firms, and/or healthcare agencies.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and grow a multi-million-dollar pipeline of opportunities.
- Deep knowledge of pharmaceutical industry trends, including market access, payer strategy, and patient support services.
- Exceptional negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
- Ability to build and maintain strong client relationships at all levels of an organization.
- Strong analytical skills to evaluate market opportunities and business performance.
- Proficiency in CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot) and Microsoft Office Suite.
