To manage all OR supplies, equipment purchases, and inventory stock.Job Description
Schedule: Monday- Friday 8 am - 4:30 pm
Prepares and submits requisitions for the purchase of supplies and equipment. Manages adequate and cost-effective inventory levels are maintained and follow up on open orders to ensure timely delivery of supplies.
Coordinates the receipt, storage, inventory, and issuance of all tissue supplies.
Accurately submits requisitions to minimize mismatches with Invoice matching. Quickly assists the Reconciler, Accounts Payable, Receiving and Purchasing to assure vendors are paid timely.
Inspects all medical/surgical supply and equipment deliveries, returns incorrect or damaged items to vendors, and maintains a record of all returned items. Coordinates instrument/equipment repairs with appropriate vendors.
Meet or exceed standards of compliance of all the accreditation and regulatory bodies and commissions, in relationship to the purchasing function.
Manages the preparation and submission of requisitions for the purchase of supplies and equipment. Coordinates the receipt, storage, inventory, and issuance of supplies.
Inspects all medical/surgical supply and equipment deliveries, forwards invoices for merchandise received in good condition to accounting, returns incorrect or damaged items to vendors, and maintains a record of all returned items.
Manages the process of instrument/equipment repairs; make sure that items are properly repaired with 3rd party vendors; works closely with Bio Med, and maintains a written repair logbook.
Reviews surgical schedules daily to anticipate inventory needs. Ensures adequate and cost-effective inventory levels are maintained. Assists in procuring supplies for special procedures upon request.
Acts as a liaison between Vendors, OR Management, Purchasing, and Materials Management to coordinate supply-related issues and problems, including but not limited to, urgent requests, follow-up on back orders and selection of appropriate alternatives.
Assists the Directors’ of Surgical Services, Nurse Manager and Assistant Nurse Managers and the Purchasing Dept. with special projects, including product/vendor evaluation, investigation of comparative pricing, pursuit of consignment and discount opportunities, negotiations, and selections.
Communicates effectively with all sales representatives, while maintaining professional relationships and controlling vendor activity in the Department.
Manages the computerized Inventory Management system.
Education/Training/Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
At least 2 years’ experience in Inventory Control methods, purchasing and knowledge of basic O.R. supplies preferred.
Experience in computer systems preferred.
