The College of Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE) Liaison Librarian supports the information literacy and collection development needs of programs in CABE. The CABE Librarian will design and maintain accessible information literacy learning materials, and will teach and assess information literacy instruction in liaison areas to support student success. This librarian will develop the library's collections in the subjects of architecture and the built environment, and will provide research assistance and reference services to support learning and research at the University. This librarian will lead library outreach initiatives to engage with the university and to build relationships with campus partners, collaborating with colleagues and with campus partners to develop, promote, and facilitate library programming with the goals of promoting library services and resources and of building community.

Job Description

Essential Functions

  • Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
  • Participates in the library's liaison program by liaising with the College of Architecture and the Built Environment on the East Falls campus of Thomas Jefferson University.
  • Teaches inclusive information literacy instruction synchronously and asynchronously, in-person and online, in assigned liaison areas.
  • Assesses information literacy instruction in assigned liaison areas.
  • Builds relationships, sustains outreach, and collaborates with campus partners, including faculty and adjunct instructors in assigned liaison area.
  • Provides reference services within and outside liaison area.
  • Provides research consultations within liaison area.
  • Develops library collections to support curriculum in assigned liaison areas.
  • Assists with weeding projects within the library's collections.
  • Coordinates the Gutman Library's participation in university-led outreach events on the East Falls Campus, including but not limited to New Student Orientations, Rams Resource Fairs, and Unity Week.
  • Builds relationships and collaborates with campus partners, including but not limited to the Study Away Office, International Student Office, the Office of Student Engagement, the Academic Success Center, the Student Counseling Center, Student Health Services, Career Services, and student groups.
  • Collaborates with library staff and campus partners to increase awareness of library resources and services.
  • Develops and promotes innovative and engaging, evidence-based library programs and workshops for faculty, students, and staff.
  • Designs and maintains learning materials and tools, including but not limited to the Springshare suite of products; collaborates with Scott Memorial Library librarians to streamline and maintain learning materials.
  • Oversees the architecture Materials Library to support students and faculty.
  • Promotes and encourages Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion in the workplace and throughout the University Community.

  • Minimum Education and Experience Requirements :

    Education :

  • MLS or MLIS from an ALA-accredited school required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in field related to architecture, interior design, historic preservation, landscape architecture, construction management, real estate development, or urban design preferred.
  • Experience :

  • Two (2) years of academic library experience as a teaching, subject specialist, or liaison librarian, preferably with background in architecture and related research subjects.
  • Two (2) years of experience with library instruction and assessment.
  • Demonstrated evidence of experience advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Library reference and consultation experience.
