The Student Services Coordinator for Student Engagement is a key member of the Office of Student Engagement (OSE) team and will report to the Director of Student Engagement. The Student Services Coordinator is responsible for guiding, developing, and implementing a wide range of programming and leadership initiatives that maximize students' campus connection and engagement. This position offers a practical learning opportunity in a supportive environment in areas such as: student organization advisement, marketing/social media, student leader and employee training, leadership development, campus programming, assessment, new student programs, fraternity and sorority life, and room reservation management.Job Description
Essential Functions
- Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
- Collaborate with the OSE staff to plan Weeks of Welcome, engaging new and returning students during the beginning of each semester.
- Communicate with new students all necessary arrival information, orientation registration, Weeks of Welcome activities and ongoing engagement information utilizing Canvas, social media and a weekly newsletter.
- Serve as member of the new student onboarding committee.
- Support the planning and facilitation of summer and spring New Student Orientation and Family Day.
- Hire, train and supervise student employee positions: Leadership Consultants and Orientation Leaders.
- Collaborate with the Assistant Director of Campus Activities on the management of the student engagement leadership series.
- Co-advise the Campus Activities Board.
- Supervise the First Year Experience (FYE) Coordinators and co-manage the FYE program and budget.
Competencies (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required):
- Experience working in orientation, transition and/or retention programs
- Ability to maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with university staff, faculty, and students
- Effective customer relations and communication skills
- Ability to prioritize work, manage time and multi-task appropriately
- Strong skill set with organization
- Strong background in event and program management
- Experience with office management and budgeting.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree Required
AND
Experience:
- 1-3 years direct experience in higher education preferred
