What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paraprofessional position at Thomas MacLaren School?
Compensation:
- Pay range: $17.00-19.00/hr.
- Benefits: For employees contracted for 30 hours per week or more, Thomas MacLaren School pays for 100% of the employee’s base insurance premiums (Health, Dental, Vision, Long-term and Short-term disability, Accidental Death and Dismemberment insurance, and Life insurance) for the base level coverages. No benefits are provided to employees contracted for less than 30 hours per week.
General Purpose: To assist 1:1 or very small groups in the special education and general education settings.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 or very small group support in all learning environments.
- Assist the Special Education Director in implementing student plans (IEPs, 504s)
- Support the safety and wellbeing of special education students
- Any other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:
Education: High School degree; Associates Degree from an accredited college or university preferred
Other knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Exceptionally well-organized
- Creative in assisting students with necessary tasks, and modify tasks as appropriate
- Exhibits patience and kindness towards students
- Clear and regular communication with case managers
- Love of educating children
- Ability to impart a love of learning to young people
- Ability and willingness to learn Crisis Prevention Interventions to ensure the safety of students
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with both young people and adults
- Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative environment
- Commitment to a diverse population of students and to closing the achievement gap
