Job Summary The Revenue Cycle Data Analyst is supportive of the Mission, Values, and Strategic Goals and Objectives of the Thomas Health System. The Data Analyst will be responsible for assisting the Director of Revenue Cycle at Thomas Health System by fulfilling the duties outlined in this document. Education The Revenue Cycle Data Analyst will hold a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and / or Finance and / or Mathematics – Computer Engineering. Preference will be shown to individuals who are a Masters level in their professional area of study. Licensure N / A Certification N / A Experience 2 years’ Data mining experience. Experience in healthcare business and / or finance will be preferred; HCA / Parallon Business Objects (BOBJ) experience a plus. Strong SQL or Excel skills with the ability to learn other analytic tools. Computer / Typing / Math Skills The Revenue CycleData Analyst will have the technological skills to work with the current state of the art technology and work with software including but not limited to Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. In addition, this individual must be able to work with software developed for revenue cycle reporting / analytics at Thomas Health System. Job Specific Requirements The Revenue CycleData Analyst will possess a basic knowledge of the Revenue Cycle with the expectation of attaining a more detailed working knowledge of this department. To accomplish this, the individual must have the ability to read and comprehend federal publications, journal articles, and white papers written on the topic of Revenue Cycle and understand managed care contract terms and reimbursement policies. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assisting in the monitoring and tracking / reporting measurements to provide data to the Executive Director of Revenue Cycle.
- Review reports supplied by outside vendors including but not limited to managed care contracts, Monthly Operating Reports, Denial Summary Reports and patient accounting system generated reports.
- Provide data, information, and reports to ensure appropriate escalation of information to leadership.
- Use statistical methods to analyze data and generate useful business reports
- Work with departmental managers to outline the specific data needs for each business method analysis project
- Filter and “clean” data by reviewing computer reports, printouts, and performance indicators
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
