About Covington Latin School

Covington Latin School (CLS) is a co-educational, Catholic, accelerated college preparatory school serving academically gifted students in the greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky region. Established in 1923, CLS has a proud tradition of providing a rigorous classical education while fostering Christian leadership and intellectual curiosity.

Now affiliated with Thomas More University, CLS is entering an exciting new chapter; one that will strengthen Catholic education, enhance academic resources, and provide students with expanded opportunities for advanced learning.

The Opportunity

Covington Latin School seeks a visionary, faith-filled, and experienced educational leader to serve as its next Head of School. The Head of School will be responsible for upholding the school's commitment to academic excellence, Catholic values, and the development of students into future leaders. Reporting to the President of Thomas More University, the Head of School will work collaboratively to advance the mission of CLS while leveraging the strategic advantages of its new university partnership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide dynamic, mission-driven leadership to Covington Latin School, ensuring alignment with Catholic values and the classical education model.
  • Oversee all aspects of academic and student life, fostering a culture of intellectual challenge, moral formation, and leadership development.
  • Serve as the chief ambassador of the school, promoting its mission to prospective families, alumni, and the broader community.
  • Ensure the recruitment, retention, and professional development of an outstanding faculty and staff.
  • Maintain financial stewardship, working collaboratively with Thomas More University leadership to sustain and grow the school’s financial health.
  • Engage actively with parents, alumni, donors, and external stakeholders to foster a strong sense of community and philanthropic support.
  • Lead strategic planning initiatives that position CLS as the premier choice for gifted Catholic education in the region.

  • Understands and promotes best practices in gifted education, classical pedagogy, and the Catholic intellectual tradition.
  • Advocates for continuous curriculum improvement, ensuring that students have access to rigorous coursework and university-level learning opportunities.

  • Leads with a deep personal commitment to Catholic faith and values.
  • Demonstrates servant leadership, exemplifying moral and ethical leadership, fostering a community of faith and service.
  • Upholds the school’s mission in collaboration with the Diocese of Covington and Thomas More University.

Strategic & Financial Acumen

  • Has a track record of effective financial management, including budgeting, fundraising, and resource allocation.
  • Cultivates donor relationships and builds a sustainable financial foundation for the school’s future growth.

Community Engagement & Relationship Building

  • Possesses exceptional interpersonal skills to engage with parents, alumni, local community leaders, and benefactors.
  • Strengthens partnerships with Thomas More University, leveraging shared resources to enhance student success.

Qualifications & Characteristics

The ideal candidate will be a visionary educator with a deep commitment to Catholic education and a passion for gifted learning. Specific qualifications include:

  • Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church.
  • Minimum of a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, Administration, or a related field.
  • At least five years of leadership experience in an academic setting, preferably in Catholic or private education.
  • Strong understanding of classical education and accelerated learning models.
  • Proven ability to lead faculty and staff in achieving academic and institutional excellence.
  • Experience in fundraising, enrollment management, and community engagement.
  • Ability to cultivate a strong relationship with Thomas More University, integrating shared resources and opportunities for CLS students.
  • Exceptional communication, organizational, and strategic planning skills.
