About the Registrar
The Registrar manages student registration, academic records, and enrollment data, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and compliance with federal and state regulations. They oversee graduation audits, transcript processing, and transfer credit evaluations while maintaining the official course catalog. Responsibilities include compiling reports for administration and external agencies, managing departmental budgets, and supervising staff. The Registrar collaborates with faculty, students, and administration to resolve registration issues, ensure FERPA compliance, and support academic policies. Additionally, they provide training, attend professional meetings, and improve registration processes to enhance efficiency and student services.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Student Registration & Records Management – Oversees the registration process, maintains student records, ensures accuracy and compliance, and manages transcript requests, grade changes, and transfer credit evaluations.
- Data Reporting & Compliance – Compiles enrollment data and reports for administration and external agencies, ensuring adherence to federal and state regulations, including FERPA compliance and athletic eligibility verification.
- Graduation & Academic Audits – Conducts graduation audits, verifies degree completion, approves final graduation lists, and oversees diploma distribution.
- Administrative & Budget Oversight – Manages departmental budgets, monitors expenditures, maintains course catalogs, and updates academic policies and procedures.
- Leadership & Training – Supervises and trains staff, provides in-service training for faculty and administration, and serves as a liaison between students, faculty, and administration regarding registration and academic policies.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in education, administration, or related field
- Three to five years of experience in a community college, or combination of education and experience commensurate with the requirements of this position
- Proficiency in word processing and ability to learn a variety of computer software
- Ability to communicate effectively in an educational setting
