Substitute Teacher
The Substitute Teacher will be responsible for taking over the instruction for all grade levels and subject matter or provide paraprofessional coverage. Additionally, the Substitute Teacher may be required to provide support for all students including students with disabilities and English language learners. The Substitute Teacher should be able to follow the teacher’s lesson plan, be willing to use technology, and work in a team teaching environment. The Building Substitute Teacher will keep appropriate classroom records, provide a safe, nurturing environment for students, and establish clear expectations for learning and behavior.
Responsibilities:
Follow WPS and school building policies, rules and procedures.
Consults with the principal and/or staff to resolve questions and/or concerns.
Complies with all procedures and schedules.
Prepares a written summary of work completed and makes the absent teacher aware of special situations or problems encountered.
Implements effective pupil management procedures.
Maintains a positive learning environment.
Provide lunchroom and recess supervision.
Other duties may be assigned by the building administrators.
Daily Building Substitute Teachers and all Per Diem Substitute Teachers are temporary, non-benefits eligible and can only work up to 3 school days per week (6.5 hrs per day and no more than 19.5 hours per week). The schedule will be established with the school leader.
Reports To: Building Principal and/or designee
Salary: $125/Day for DESE Certified Teacher and/or Bachelor’s Degree
$110/Day for Some College Credits and/or Experience Working with Students
$100/Day for Novice Substitutes and/or HS Diploma
