Primary Responsibilities:
· Repair machines from customers as they come into the store in a timely manner.
· Deliver and set up the appropriate machines as they are sold.
· Troubleshoot machines with customers as necessary.
· Repair any machines in the store that need repaired.
· Answer the repair phone.
· Maintain appropriate inventory for repairs.
· Regularly organize and clean repair area.
Job Description
In this role you will become a master of the mechanics and inner workings of several different types and categories of sewing machines. Sewing machines have come a long way technologically, and they can be quite complex and interesting. Some models use cameras, projectors and other sensors in order to make sewing a better experience for the end user. It is the responsibility of the technician to learn how these systems work, gain understanding of the processes that end users want to accomplish with their machines, and ensure that the machines are in top working order to make this happen. While it's not as customer facing as a salesperson, it is also the responsibility of the technician to sometimes explain things to customers so that they can understand what an issue may be with a machine and what may need to be fixed or replaced.
Some machines require delivery & setup, and hours will vary on days with deliveries.
Primary Responsibilities
- Servicing, diagnosing, and repairing sewing machines.
- Accurately logging any work done or parts added to a work order.
- Looking up and pricing parts for services.
- Answering phone calls related to the service department.
- Keeping work area clean and presentable
- Learning about new products and how they work.
- Assisting on deliveries of certain machines
Primary Skills Needed
- Know how to use a Multi-Meter (Continuity, voltage, ohms, etc.)
- Know how to use a Soldering Iron
- Understand basic troubleshooting principles (Problem solving skills)
- Be comfortable using power tools (drill, dremel, air compressor, etc.)
- Computer literacy skills required to properly navigate parts lists, service manuals, and vendor websites for pricing and availability.
Secondary Responsibilities
Secondary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assisting customers in locating and purchasing non-commissionable merchandise
- Operating the POS system
- Checking in repairs that require service
- Assisting on Deliveries to customers homes
- Performing other duties as assigned by the Store Managers to maximize store profitability and customer satisfaction while protecting company assets.
Please bear in mind that secondary responsibilities will vary based on customer demand, employee schedule, etc.

Physical Requirements
- Dealing with customers and maintaining other responsibilities may require you to be on your feet for the majority of the day.
- Checking machines in and out is a normal part of the work day. Deliveries require somewhat rigorous work. Please be comfortable lifting up to 45lbs.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
