Key Duties and Responsibilities - The School Nutrition Maintenance is responsible for completing maintenance task assigned by the Cafeteria Manager. Maintenance staff will cooperate with other school nutrition personnel as directed by the manager.
- Complete school nutrition maintenance requests assigned by Cafeteria Managers or Director.
- Maintain equipment maintenance logs for the School Nutrition Department.
- Assist in the cleanup of kitchen and service areas.
- Unload deliveries and arrange items in the proper place following all HACCP Food Safety Plan Guidelines.
- Performs major cleaning of refrigerators and storerooms at regularly scheduled intervals designated by the manager.
- Follows manager's instructions as to storage and disposal of unused food.
- Assist in cleaning counters, tables and furnishings in the dining area.
- Maintain the trash and garbage collection area in a neat and sanitary fashion.
- Follow maintenance work schedules
- Perform related duties as required including duties at special meal functions.
- Attend relevant training classes and workshops.
- Maintain high standards of grooming and work habits.
- Help to make the school nutrition program a success by maintaining a wholesome, positive attitude toward students, teachers, parents and the community.
- Perform any additional assignments designated by the Superintendent, Director and/or Manager.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Hold or be eligible for required certification.
- Display positive attitude toward School Nutrition Program.
- Must be able to read and write.
- Must be able to follow oral and written instructions.
- Must be courteous and cooperate with fellow employees, students, and staff.
- Must be conscientious, prompt, and emotionally mature.
- Must be willing to participate in training to improve job performance.

- Ability to perform tasks involving prolonged periods of standing, walking, and sitting.
- Ability to perform routine physical activities such as bending and lifting/pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds.
- Vision, hearing, written, and verbal communications are essential factors in performing required tasks.
- Must be able to properly and consistently supervise students particularly during emergency situations.
- Must be physically able to perform duties assigned including moderate lifting (at least 50 lbs.), carrying, pushing and pulling, and mopping.
- Must be able to stand and work for extended periods in varying degrees of temperature and humidity.
- Must be capable of operating a large variety of equipment.
