Position: Bus Monitor
Location: Transportation
Terms of employment: Approximately 20 hours/week
FLSA: Non-Exempt
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or GED
- Physical Activities: Routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities
- Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Written and Oral Communication; student management skills
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate
Performance Responsibilities
- Exercise maximum regard for the safety and welfare of all transported students.
- Be knowledgeable of the assigned bus route.
- Assist bus driver with keeping assigned bus clean and sanitary at all times.
- Attend all bus monitor safety meetings and bus monitor training sessions.
- Submit to Drug and/or Alcohol testing when required by School Board, State and/or Federal policy.
- Communicate effectively with the school, staff and the public.
- Assist bus driver with inspecting the school bus at the end of each run to ensure that no student is left on the bus.
- Abide by procedures and policies regarding the safe and orderly operation of the bus including pick up and drop off procedures and loading and unloading procedures.
- Assist bus driver with conducting emergency evacuation drills as required.
- Assign and monitor required student seating arrangements as directed by the Transportation Coordinator or Designee.
- Follow roll call, check-lists, and seating procedures as directed by the Transportation Coordinator or Designee.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Transportation Coordinator or Designee.
