Our Activity Center is looking for a dedicated and reliable Janitor to help maintain a safe and tidy environment for our community. We want to hear from you if you value cleanliness, organization, and teamwork! The deadline for resume submission is March 14th.
Role and Responsibilities : The following duties are typical for this position. These are not construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Custodial Work 90%
Perform general clean-up of all building areas on the 2nd floor, as directed. Clean-up includes mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, and occasional scrubbing. General cleaning also includes emptying the garbage, recycling receptacles in each room, and emptying large barrels into outside dumpsters. Duties include wiping tables, chairs, furniture, program equipment, and machines. Also, toilets, urinals, and sink areas in male and female restrooms should be cleaned. It may also include cleaning the walls and sanitizing them.
Light Maintenance Support 5%
Assist with light maintenance duties, including replacing light bulbs and building and assembly as needed.
Event Set Up 5%
You may be asked to assist with chair and table setup or takedown as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS AND PREFERRED SKILLS
- Skills as custodian/janitor or in a similar role
- Graduation from a high school or GED equivalent preferred
- Ability to work independently or with minimal supervision
- Thorough with strong attention to detail
- Capacity to take direction
- Training in cleaning bodily fluid spills and blood-borne pathogens is preferred.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Ability to work well with people aged 50 .
- Ability to work as a team with other staff members
PHYSICAL DEMANDS – Light Work
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, sit, talk, and hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to handle or operate objects or controls and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.
