What will you do as a Senior Financial Analyst?

Role

As the Senior Financial Analyst at Thompson, you will play a crucial role in managing and analyzing financial data to support the organization's mission. This includes:

• Financial Planning and Analysis: You will develop and maintain financial models, scenarios, forecasts, and budgets to ensure the organization’s financial health and sustainability.
• Reporting: You will prepare detailed financial reports and presentations for senior management and stakeholders, providing insights into financial performance and trends.
• Strategic Support: You will collaborate with various departments to provide financial guidance and support for strategic initiatives and projects.
• Compliance: You will ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards, conducting audits and reviews as necessary.
• Cost Management: You will identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements, helping to optimize resource allocation.

A typical day for a Senior Financial Analyst usually blends deep analytical work with cross-functional collaboration and strategic thinking. Typical activities could include preparing forecasts, dashboards, and financial analyses to inform strategic decisions and help leadership plan for sustainability and growth; developing clear, funder-ready financial reports and materials for Board and Finance Committee meetings; partnering with program teams to support budgeting for grants, track outcomes, and translate financials into mission impact; monitoring & reporting on program and grant spending, ensuring compliance with funder restrictions and budget alignment; and supporting organization-wide financial literacy by simplifying complex data for non-finance stakeholders.

There are no strict schedule requirements. However, we encourage staff to come into headquarters periodically for team engagement and meetings.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:

• Must have a valid Driver License and meet any credentialing, licensing, and privileging standards as it pertains to the department you are in.
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field (CPA or MBA preferred)
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial analysis, budgeting, and reporting, preferably in a non-profit setting.
• Proficiency in financial software, advanced Excel skills, and experience with financial modeling.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
• All potential job candidates must pass a drug screening test, and an extensive background check is required.
