Duties/Responsibilities

- Assists Thompson Concrete (TC) Superintendent in administering and adhering to company safety, health, and environmental policies as well as the General Contractor’ s on site safety policies and procedures.
- Stop Work and report immediately to the TC Superintendent and Thompson Safety Manager any violation or unsafe practice where there is imminent danger to life or property.
- Safety duties include: weekly site safety walks, weekly toolbox talks, daily JHA paperwork for all crews and site inspections. Ensure orientation is completed prior to any new person arriving on site.
- Assist in promoting safe work practices and safe working conditions in accordance with all State, Federal, Local regulations, and contractual requirements.
- Report all incidents to the Thompson Safety Manager.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
- Collaborate with management and employees to develop and implement safety improvement initiatives.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant safety regulations and industry best practices.
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Strong ability to assess risk
- Strong understanding of all safety as it relates to concrete including pumping, excavation, civil/commercial construction and residential construction
- Proven experience as a Safety Coordinator or similar role
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations and standards
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for report writing and training purposes
- Analytical thinking with the ability to conduct root cause analysis
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with management teams
OSHA 30 Certification is required
- 2 years Construction experience
- 2 years of Safety experience
- Performance of the required duties will require physical ability to climb permanent and temporary stairs, passenger use of construction personnel hoists, ability to climb ladders and negotiate work areas under construction. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Performing this job requires use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, sit, talk and hear, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Intern must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
- Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, The Safety Task Lead will be located at the construction work site where they could be exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise in these work environments is usually moderate to very loud.
