Position Description
Constructs, erects, installs and repairs structures and fixtures of wooden structures, such as concrete forms, scaffolds, tunnel and sewer supports, and temporary frame shelters, according to sketches, blueprints, or oral instructions. These duties are to be performed in a safe and timely manner with the highest quality possible.
Job Responsibilities
- Examine blueprints and specifications to determine dimensions of structure.
- Measure boards, timbers, or plywood, using square, measuring tape, and ruler, and marks cutting lines on materials using pencil and scriber.
- Saw boards and plywood panels to required sizes.
- Use carpentry hand tools such as hammers, levels, squares, screw drivers, adjustable wrenches, hand and power saws, drill motors and pry bars.
- Nail cleats (braces) across boards to construct concrete-supporting forms.
- Brace forms in place with timbers, tie rods, and anchor bolts for use in building concrete piers, footings, and walls.
- Erect chutes for placing concrete.
- Cut and assemble timbers to build trestles and cofferdams.
- Erect scaffolding for buildings and other structures and install ladders, handrails, walkways, platforms, and gangways.
- May install door and window bucks (rough frames in which finished frames are inserted) in designated positions in building framework including masonry walls.
- Fit and nail sheathing on outer walls and roofs of buildings.
- Set and brace anchor bolts.
- May rig materials.
- Responsible for observing and complying with all safety and project rules.
- Other duties may be assigned.
- Preferred 3 years' experience working in the construction field
- Minimum Required Tool List:
- 1 each Tool Pouch
- 1 each Claw Hammer
- 1 each 12" Crescent Wrench
- 1 each Tape Measure
- 1 each Speed Square
- 1 each 2' and 4' Level
- 1 each Wire Pliers
- 1 each Chalk Box
- 1 each Torpedo Level
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds, climb, bend, twist, stand and reach repetitively
- Work in hot/cold/damp/cramped environments
- 40 or more hours per week with possible weekend work
- Background check and drug screen based on job location/requirements
