Responsibilities
- Plan and oversee the maintenance of the golf course by scheduling the work and overseeing department employees.
- Instruct employees how to use equipment safely and how to care for the equipment.
- Present current and future maintenance plans to Owners.
- Supervise and apply fertilizer and chemicals, including the calibration of spraying and spreading equipment.
- Participate in the operation and maintenance of pumps and wells.
- Oversee all personnel management, evaluations, discipline and safety programs of the department.
- Complete capital improvement projects and creating and updating long-term capital plans including scoping, quoting and cost management of projects.
- Build and adhere to annual operating budget.
- Detailed record-keeping of equipment maintenance logs and application of turf products.
Requirements
- Working knowledge of the maintenance practices of golf course turf including tees, greens, fairways and rough.
- Characteristics and proper use of fertilizers, chemicals, pesticides and other soil conditioners relevant to the golf course turf and soils.
- Knowledge of irrigation systems including the technology to efficiently irrigate the golf course.
- Prepare clear and precise reports to Owners.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and a current applicator license from the USDA.
- Ability to diagnose and repair turf equipment.
