The Role
The 5 th Street Diner Restaurant inside the Thompson and Tommie Austin, two premier lifestyle hotels in Downtown Austin – This new concept includes indoor dining space, servicing hotel guests and Residents.
The Line Cook requires good communication and culinary skills. The desired cook candidate will have hotel cooking experience and a culinary degree. A Line Cook should have a professional knowledge of cooking ingredients and procedures. The Line Cook will work single stations in the kitchen and require significant supervision and training.
In-depth skills and knowledge of all kitchen operations. Capable of producing a consistent product to meet and exceed guests' needs in a timely manner. On a daily basis must monitor food production, quality and consistency, staffing levels and department training. Skills and knowledge to include culinary education, cost control, communication skills, computer skills, organizational skills, guest contact experience and culinary teaching skills and knowledge. This person must be able to give direction in the hourly Sous' absence.

Where art and atmosphere seep in from the surrounding neighborhood, and collaborations seep back out. tommie will feature a bespoke coffee and wine shop and allow guests to be the master of their own stay while still offering warm and authentic service.
Both hotels are anchored on the ground floor by our re-imagined cantina-themed restaurant, a 13,000 sq ft. indoor and outdoor oasis as well as the 5th Street Diner The Royale Room. a street-side concept serving daily fare for locals, residents, and guests alike. This mixed-use project will also feature a residential tower – Sienna – and 10,000 square feet of retail space and a 7,000 sq. ft. state of the art fitness center and simulator room, appropriately named the “T” Box.

Qualifications
- A true desire to satisfy the needs of others in a fast paced environment.
- Refined verbal communication skills.
- 2 years of previous line experience preferred.
- Culinary degree or related hotel experience is preferred.
- Candidate should be able to perform all basic cooking skills.
- Must have physical stamina to lift moderate amounts of weight.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Must have an open and flexible schedule including weekends and holidays
