Position Summary:
Thompson Innovative Glass is looking for a diligent and detail-oriented Material Handler/Shipping and Receiving Operator. The successful candidate will ensure the accurate and timely receipt and dispatch of materials, safely load and unload trucks, and support the production department. This role requires close attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and teamwork. In addition to material handling, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with a team in various facets of our Advanced Lamination process, gaining insights into the fabrication of advanced glass products.
Key Responsibilities:
Receiving
- Receive and inspect incoming shipments, verifying items against purchase orders.
- Safely unload trucks and work with the production team to store incoming materials.
- Ensure all incoming shipments are accurately counted, sized, and labeled.
- Route received products to the appropriate departments.
Shipping
- Review daily shipping orders and prepare items for shipment.
- Verify that picked items match order information for accuracy.
- Operate forklifts to pick and transport materials to shipping areas.
- Perform quality checks on picked items before shipment.
- Securely crate or rack products to ensure they are safely delivered to customers.
- Load trucks with outbound shipments.
- Record and handle defective or damaged items according to company policies.
- Ensure outgoing shipments are properly labeled and include necessary documents.
- Prepare and maintain shipping-related documents.
- Attach identifying information and delivery instructions to containers.
- Organize records of shipped goods.
- Assist in inspecting outgoing loads and keeping records of shipments.
Additional Responsibilities
- Perform monthly physical inventory of materials.
- Crosstrain on various positions and equipment around the shop.
- Collaborate with teams to achieve production and quality goals through clear communication and teamwork.
- Maintain a safe and efficient work environment complying with safety standards.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste and enhance productivity.
Qualifications:
Education & Skills:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Basic math skills.
- Forklift certification (preferred).
- Ability to accurately read and process shipping and receiving documents.
- Understanding of shipping and receiving protocols.
Work Ethic & Physical Requirements:
- Strong work ethic and dependability.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to multi-task in a busy environment.
- Willingness to work flexible hours as needed to support production.
