We are looking for a Massachusetts licensed Registered Architect to join our team! Our firm provides inspections, testing, and consulting services to the commercial construction industry, focusing on weatherproofing, air and water penetration, and construction materials testing.
• Responsibilities:
o Preparing and presenting Peer Reviews, including detailed drawings and specifications on the following:
▪ weatherproofing of foundation façade and roofs
▪ façade veneer construction
▪ wall insulation
▪ flashings at penetrations
▪ thermal bridges
▪ thermal performance of the building enclosure
▪ waterproofing details in drawings and specifications.
▪ air barrier, insulation, roof membrane, and various types of flashings in drawings and specifications
• waterproofing membrane installations and associated flashing, insulation in drawings and specifications
o Consulting regarding the prevention of damage from unwanted water intrusion and condensation.
o Meeting with clients to discuss project objectives, requirements, and budget. o Reviewing submittals and Commissioning services o Coordinating with engineers, contractors, and other professionals to ensure the feasibility of designs.
o Mockup inspections and observation of testing. o Attending site visits and project meetings to evaluate site conditions and monitor progress and compliance with design specifications.
o Modifying designs based on client feedback, site conditions, and other influencing factors.
o Ensuring that all designs comply with relevant sustainability, and building code provisions.
o Working closely with clients to create plans that meet specified requirements.
o Producing detailed technical drawings and specifications using CAD software
o Preparing responses and documentation to address construction relate questions, RFI's, change orders, affidavits and field reports.
Qualifications:
• Registered Architect with an active license in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
• 6 or more years of practical experience in construction industry
• AIA membership preferred • Experience working with AutoCad and MS-Office
• Understanding and familiarity of MA Building Code requirements
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
• Highly organized with the ability to balance multiple projects at once
• Ability to work efficiently, independently, and within budget
Work Location: Canton, MA Work Hours: Part time position (approximately 20 hours/week - possible additional hours if workload warrants), Mon. – Fri. between 9 am and 5 pm, flexible
