Overview:
The Drafting Engineer will design, draft and check drawings, take-offs and lay-sheets while assisting in the Management of projects to include prioritizing internal and outsourced work.
Essential Functions:
- Design, draft, and check drawings and documentation for all concrete product projects.
- Review projects for accuracy and prioritize incoming projects for timely completion.
- Drive continuous improvement within the drafting dept., take-off, and project management process to reduce completion time and enhance accuracy.
- Have a knowledge in ASTM, AASHTO, TXDOT, and other specifications for products we manufacture and competitive products.
- Assist with customer communications when problem(s) may arise.
- Assist in modeling / drafting and analysis of new manufacturing products and processes
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong time management skills, organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Microsoft Office Suite fluency.
- Proficient with AutoCad, STACK-IT, SolidWorks or related drafting software.
- Ability to interpret technical documents.
- Experience with Lean manufacturing and systematic continuous improvement tools preferred.
Required Education and experience
- Associates degree in engineering/computer drafting preferred.
- At least one year of engineering/drafting experience required.
Work Environment
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
Physical Demands
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move products and supplies, up to 40 pounds.
- Must be able to access and navigate all areas in the facility and access all machinery.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
- This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. OT will be required as needed. This position regularly requires weekend work.
