The Role:
The Thompson Rivers Parks and Recreation District is seeking a fun and energetic individual that can help us provide a healthy, happy community through people, parks, programs and partnerships! The facility provides operational supervision of indoor facilities and/or outdoor fields during the absence of full- time staff. This position would supervise at various locations such as the Milliken Athletic Complex, Elwell Elementary School, Nelson Farm Park, Mountain View, or the Johnstown Activity Center.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Facilities/Events:
- Arrive 30 minutes before scheduled shift.
- Supervision of user fee classes and private group uses.
- Light maintenance and/or set up/tear down scheduled events.
- Ensure all facilities and playing surfaces are in safe and operable condition.
- Provide general assistance with office work and assist facility visitors.
- Light lifting and moving of equipment.
- Enforce the department’s policy.
- Ensure the proper use and care of the facility and equipment.
- Ensuring that a safe and equitable environment exists at all times for all participants.
- Overseeing preparation, usage and clean-up for special events and other specific programming.
- Maintaining a clean facility.
- Continually walk around the facility checking all doors to ensure security, observing equipment for defects, observing participants for misuse of equipment or inappropriate conduct, and general encouragement of participants.
- Maintains accurate accident and incident reports.
- Being able to complete tasks efficiently and without very close supervision.
- Capable of establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with fellow employees, various community organizations, and the public.
- Going around the facility and making sure all doors are shut and locked at the end of your shift.
- Enabling the security system before leaving the facility.
- Perform other duties assigned by the Facility Manager.
Athletics:
- Performs a range of tasks during the supervision of various athletic activities for the Athletics Department.
- Arrive 30 minutes before scheduled shift.
- Light maintenance and/or set up/tear down scheduled sporting events.
- Ensures all facilities and playing surfaces are in safe and operable condition.
- Ensuring that a safe and equitable environment exists at all times for all participants.
- Maintains discipline, sportsmanship, and responds professionally to comments or concerns from the public.
- Enforces the parents and coaches’ code of conduct.
- Maintains accurate accident and incident reports
- Maintaining a clean facility.
- Continually walk around the facility checking all doors to ensure security, observing equipment for defects, observing participants for misuse of equipment or inappropriate conduct, and general encouragement of participants.

Desired Skills and Qualifications:
- Must be at least 16 years of age or older.
- Must possess basic clerical and computer skills.
- Must Certified in Adult/Child CPR & First Aid from American Red Cross or obtain certification within 60 days of hire.
- Knowledge of recreation programs and policies.
- Supervisor experience.
- Knowledge of assigned sport including rules and regulations.
- Ability to work independently and reliably complete assigned tasks.
- Ability to establish and maintain productive relations and positive attitude with and toward others.
- Ability to tactfully resolve guest/associate concerns.
- Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills and be able to effectively communicate with adults and children from a variety of cultural backgrounds.
- Ability to handle sensitive and/or stressful situations or information with tact, discretion, and significant awareness of confidentiality.
- Ability to handle participants, team managers and/or coaches under difficult game situations.

Physical Requirements:
Must be able to frequently bend, walk, kneel, stoop, reach and lift in performance of duties. Will be required to assist in lifting and moving tables, chairs, and cabinets, etc to a maximum of 50lbs. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Must exhibit manual dexterity to manipulate keyboards, calculations, and telephone systems. The ability to talk and hear via telephone and through face-to-face communication.
Environmental Considerations
Requires considerable movement around the facility to monitor activities. Most work is performed indoors at the Milliken Athletic Complex. Requires sitting (or standing) at a desk 75% or more assigned shift in a busy office environment where noise and interruptions prevail. May be required to utilize cleaning materials and have contact with various chemicals for duties such as mopping, sanitizing down doors, equipment, and workstation.
