The Role:
The Thompson Rivers Parks and Recreation District is seeking fun and energetic individuals to help us provide a healthy, happy community through people, parks, programs and partnerships! Employees at this level are responsible for planning and scheduling classes, providing practical instruction, and ensuring that participants learn and operate within a safe, supportive environment through lessons that remain fun and engaging while encouraging respect for oneself and others.

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Teach pickleball fundamentals to youth programs and adult program activities.
- Plan and implement pickleball clinics.
- Set up and take down for programming.
- Prior teaching experience with youth and adult is highly desired.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate professionally and effectively.
- Ensure proper inspection of the courts prior to the start of play and ascertain that the courts are in a safe working order.
- Report any maintenance problems to the Facility Coordinator.
- Respectful, supportive, and fair approach to teaching and working within our organization and community
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Desired Skills and Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Experience and playing abilities in singles and doubles.
- Current CPR & First Aid certification from the American Red Cross or the ability to obtain such certification within 60 days of employment.
- Pickleball instruction experience preferred.
- Knowledge of current principles, practices, teaching methods and techniques specific to area of expertise
- Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, ordinances, and policies
- Ability to effectively demonstrate proper techniques, respond to questions specific to the program of instruction, and remain engaged with participants
- Ability to adapt class activities to meet for a wide variety of participant skill levels
- Ability to demonstrate time management skills by beginning and completing scheduled shifts and utilizing program time effectively
- Ability to maintain program-specific certifications
- Ability to remain composed in emergency situations, make sound judgment and work effectively under stressful circumstances
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, peers, and staff
- Ability to communicate, follow and enforce all rules, regulations and policies
- Ability to recognize safety hazards and sanitation issues and take action to resolve them
- Ability to complete and maintain well-organized class records, logs and incident reports
- Ability to operate all program-specific equipment safely; ability to set up, maintain and tear down activity-related equipment and community room space

Physical Requirements:
Must be able to frequently stand, walk, sit, talk or hear, use hands to hold, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and reach with hands and arms in performance of duties. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. This position requires a high level of physical ability including standing for long periods, bending, reaching, lifting, jumping, walking, stretching etc.
Environmental Considerations:
May require indoor and outdoor activities and exposure to the elements. The noise level in the environment is moderate to loud. May be required to utilize cleaning materials and have contact with various chemicals for duties such as mopping and/or sanitizing high contact areas including doors, equipment, and workstation.
