The Operations Manager reports directly to the General Manager and oversees the Western region for Hydro Consulting and Maintenance Services. Maintains sales, administration, project and personnel management for the region.

Job Responsibilities
- Sales:
- Responsible for understanding the Western Market by visiting Customers and understanding their needs
- Develop individual sales strategies to specific customers, providing confidence that our team can perform project on time and on budget.
- Establish a strong presence in all Western States.
- Attend conferences and develop list of contacts to meet at conference.
- Monitor and respond to opportunity site postings of customers.
- Administration:
- Provide project budget and cost information to General Manager.
- Ensure proper profit margins are maintained on projects.
- Maintain yearly budget and revenue. Provide Overhead cost for operations of Western Division (Office, Shop and Marketing).
- Ensure Tooling required for projects are available.
- Conduct Project Site visits.
- Manage business expenses and reports.
- Project Management:
- Read, understand and evaluate RFP opportunities, contracts/T&C's.
- Read and understand Contractual obligations.
- Provide detailed estimates, schedules and Proposals.
- Manage schedules, budgets and monitor site activities.
- Uphold/ exceed quality control standards as set by Thompson and the Customer
- Hold project meetings with Project team and customer.
- Work with the customer and our site team to support their efforts, wants and needs 24 hours 7 days a week.
- Personnel Management:
- Responsible for 5-25 direct reports of both project managers and field employees.
- Provide employee evaluations, development of yearly goals for employees, and helps to ensure they meet them
- Responsible for growth/learning plans for direct reports.
- Recruit qualified personnel to ensure staffing levels are adequate to meet project demands.
- Safety:
- Understand, develop, and uphold Thompson safety procedures.
- Provide support and training for Safety.
- Facilitate safety training with crews and management.
- Report to General Managers any Incidents, violations, near misses and measures taken to mitigate unsafe situations.
- Participate on Safety Steering Committees, review and relay information gathered on the Intelex Dashboard.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience with 5 being in management
- Must be able to travel 3-8 days out of the month
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Self-directed with strong organizational skills, attention to details.
- Strong math and analytical skills in regard to cost and pricing.
- Ability to work effectively and ensure that we meet project deadlines.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships.
